Minutes of previous meeting
The minutes of the meeting held on 9th January 2024 were read and approved. They were proposed by Councillor Graves and Seconded by Councillor Ashley. Councillor Ashley then signed them as a true copy of the meeting.
Matters Arising
With regard to the Mill pond councillor Cummings has spoken to Mr Newman at The Mill. He has dropped the level of the water in the Mill pond to allow essential work to be undertaken to the retaining wall. Once this has been completed he will give the pond a good flush through which should help with the weed situation.
It was noted that the Mill pond is now flowing although it is not as full as it has been in previous years. This is possibly due to the height of the syphon at Keddington Lock.
The environment agency are doing work in the Canal at present. There are a lot of dead weeds along the side of the canal which have been dragged out. It is hoped that these will be moved once dried out.
In relation to the telephone box Mr Pyman has been approached but would not be able to undertake the work required to repaint the telephone box at this time. We shall need to seek an alternative painter to do this. The Clerk will put out some feelers.
Treasurers Report
Councillor Cummings advised that the balance in the current account stands at £4419.96. A cheque is payable to the Clerk and also to Alvingham Village Hall for the use of the hall for the 2 pylon meetings. Councillor Cummings has also incurred expenses totalling £228.89 for envelopes labels and paper for the objection letters he printed. All were approved and signed.
Planning
A planning application has been made by Alvingham Lakes for the removal of a condition allowing the occupants to undertake other types of work. No objections were made to this application.
Correspondence
No matters arising from the correspondence received.
Other relevant business
In relation to the Church The Clerk was able to report that the Church Warden has arranged for the trees to be cut and the chippings used on the path. The tree surgeon will carry out this work in the very near future.
With regard to the pylon proposal a reminder will be sent out advising of the deadline for responding to the survey and also Victoria Atkins survey.
