Matters Arising
Pot Holes / Road Repairs – Cllr Hastings has been raising the matter on a regular basis with Highways at LCC, and it appears progress has been made. Pothole repairs have been carried out throughout the village, and white-lining of Give Way signs has been completed. Notification has been received from George Cartwright at LCC confirming larger jobs is scheduled. Re-establishing the road width on Abbey Road will go ahead on 04/09/26, and the insertion of a drainage gulley and re-profiling of the carriageway on Highbridge Road will take place in early November. Roads will be closed to allow for works. Clerk to confirm dates & send notification to residents nearer the time.
Flood Diary - A record of all evidence relating to surface water / sewerage flooding within the village over the last 10 years is being compiled, together with information on poorly maintained ditches and drains. The aim being to share it with all relevant agencies so any planning decisions affecting sewerage or surface water can be assessed using factual information, and to put pressure on Anglian Water to ensure works are scheduled when required. Clerk to request photos and information from residents who have been affected, and to draw up a ‘reporting form’ that people can complete moving forwards to capture all relevant information.
Cllr Mossop confirmed that LMDB was doing a sterling job throughout the County, but that Alvingham, together with other villages along its route, was at risk from flooding from the Louth Canal if the area were to experience heavy & prolonged rainfall. The canal is just too shallow, and has a tidal flow, not pumped. If barriers and gates along its course are not maintained, there is a risk they will fail if ever needed. The canal falls under the responsibility of The Environment Agency.
Treasurers Report
Cllr Cummings confirmed that the current balance in the account stands at £6,740 with the cheque to AVCH still outstanding. Clerk to ensure they have received the cheque.
