Minutes of previous meeting

The minutes of the meeting held on 14th November 2023 were read. As only one member of the Parish Council in attendance at today’s meeting was present at the pervious meeting it was not possible for the minutes to be approved. This will be carried forward to the next meeting.

Matters Arising

In relation to the weeds in the River Lud along Lock Road Councillor Graves believes the flow has been slowed because the boards at the Mill Pond have not been lifted for some time. Councillor Cummings offered to speak to the owners of The Mill to see if this could be done soon as improvement to the flow will help prevent the build-up of weeds.

Regarding the church yard Magnus has received his final payment from the Parish Council. The Church intend to make alternative arrangements for its upkeep going forward following a discussion with Magnus.

Treasurers Report

Councillor Cummings noted that all cheques have been cashed leaving a balance in the current account of £4539.96. A cheque was approved payable to the Village Hall for the use of the Hall for the meetings in the sum of £120 for the year.

Precept

Fixed costs for the year remain the same £855.24 Clerk, £120.00 Hall hire, £145.00 Insurance hire. Potential expenses include cutting the canal bank and church yard, CAB donation and renovating the phone box.

The precept was increased last year to £22.50 per household. It was proposed by Councillor Cummings that the same figure should be adopted for the coming financial year this was seconded by Councillor Graves and Councillor Ashley also agreed.

Correspondence

Lincolnshire County Council’s communication regarding the bus stop was discussed. The need for a bus stop was questioned given at Call Connect offers a door-to-door service. It was felt that a notice placed in the notice board would be sufficient and far cheaper. The Clerk will send a suitable response.

Other relevant business

The Phone Box – is in need a external painting. A quote will be obtained from Tim Pyman for this work.

Date and Time of next meeting
